Brewers update: The Brewers enter the final series of the season with a playoff spot on the line, but they will need some help from the Philadelphia Phillies, whom they trail in the race for the final wild-card spot in the National League. The Brewers opened the year by winning 32 of their first 50 games (.640 winning percentage) but had gone 52-56 in their next 108 games entering Sunday. They especially struggled in early August, on the day after their controversial trade of LHP Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres, but played a little better in September. The Brewers are second in the National League with 214 home runs. 1B Rowdy Tellez leads the team with 34 homers. SS Willy Adames has 31, RF Hunter Renfroe 28. RHP Corbin Burnes and RHP Brandon Woodruff have been strong atop the rotation. The Brewers bullpen has posted just a 4.20 ERA since the start of September, the second-worst month of their season. This series was originally scheduled for the start of the season but was moved to the end because of the labor dispute.
