Photographer Captures Beautiful Firefly Timelapse
Calgary-based photographer Siv Heang Tav compiled 400 still images taken on June 10 into a stunning timelapse video of fireflies lighting up in a wetland near Crossfield, Alberta.
Heang Tav told Storyful: “Fireflies are somewhat rare in Western Canada. This timelapse was shot at a wetland in an agricultural area near Crossfield, Alberta, on the warm, humid night of June 10 from 11 pm to 1 am.”
The footage is made of 400 still images and was taken with eight-second exposures.
The final images are “a progressive stack of all the images together to show the locations of all of the fireflies at once,” Heang Tav said. Credit: Siv Heang Tav via Storyful
