A Phoenix coffee shop has landed at No. 11 on Yelp's latest list of the top 100 coffee shops in the United States.

A.T. Oasis Coffee & Tea Shop is owned by Aisha and Abdul Tedros. They opened their Ethiopian coffee shop nine years ago on Thomas Road.

"I don't know how to explain it. I'm overwhelmed by the love we have received from everybody," Aisha Tedros said. "We are so excited and we are very thankful and we are so, so pleased. Thanks to all our supporters who have helped us keep the store open. This is the hard work of everybody."

Yelp praised the shop for its "rich flavors and beautiful traditions of Ethiopian coffee."

Why A.T. Oasis coffee is so good

A.T. Oasis imports its coffee beans from Ethiopia and roasts them in house, Aisha Tedros said. It also sells its coffee wholesale and nationwide. Specialty drinks include chai tea and spiced ginger coffee, both made from scratch.

The shop also is known for its homemade pastries, scones and Sambuca cakes. The most ordered pastries include the apricot and raisin scone and coconut cake.

"Opening this place was a dream for a long time," Aisha Tedros said. "I love people and I love coffee. And coffee is meaningful. Coffee was discovered in Ethiopia, so to be around people and to be around coffee, I said I needed to open a coffee shop."

What makes A.T. Oasis stand out from other shops?

"Two things," Aisha Tedros said. "We have the best coffee. We import specialty coffee and we make quality drinks and healthy drinks. And we have the best customer service, and we believe in welcoming everybody."

Other Arizona coffee shops that made Yelp's Top 100 include Window Coffee Bar in Phoenix, which ranked No. 29; Kind Bean in Chandler, which ranked No. 36; and William's Coffee Co. in Phoenix, which ranked no. 54.
