Phoebe Waller-Bridge wants to bring 'Fleabag' back when she’s 50

The second season of Fleabag has rightfully been acclaimed as one of the best television series of 2019.

But while fans of Fleabag have reveled in the 12 episodes its creator, writer and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge offered up, they were devastated to learn on the eve of its finale that she planned to end the show after just two seasons.

Waller-Bridge still feels this way, recently telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I feel like it’s done.” However, after being asked whether anything could be done to convince her to return to the story, Waller-Bridge did suggest that she would one day return. Unfortunately we’re going to have to wait at least a decade.

“But I do have a fantasy of bringing her back when I’m, like, 45 or 50,” continued the 34-year-old.

“She went on the biggest journey over the past two seasons, and she started as someone who sort of hated herself and ended up as someone believing that she could love again and forgive herself. I have to respect that arc and let her go and live for a bit.”

Fortunately for Fleabag fans Waller-Bridge is already working hard on a variety of new projects, the most exciting of which is her re-writing work on James Bond 25.

But while she is obviously happy to be involved in the blockbuster, she has already looked to downplay her involvement.

"A lot has been made of me coming on board because I'm a woman, and that's wonderful," Waller-Bridge insisted. "But also I can't take credit for the movie that was written. It's [director] Cary [Fukunaga]'s movie."

We’ll get to see if that’s true when James Bond 25 is released on April 8, 2020.
