Phelan man arrested on suspicion of stealing nearly $3,000 worth of fencing

A 40-year-old man from Phelan was arrested on suspicion of stealing over $3,000 worth of chain link fencing, Victor Valley Sheriff’s officials reported.

Robert Osborne Jr. was arrested without incident on Saturday and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, booking records show.

Osborne, who was released the following day, is scheduled to appear in court on July 28, sheriff’s officials said.

Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station officials reported that at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a residence in the 14000 block of Ailanthus Street in Phelan regarding the theft of fencing.

The victim found that approximately 15 rolls of 50-foot length fencing that he purchased were stolen off his property. The value of the fencing was estimated at $3,250.00.

After Deputy C. Lajuj identified the suspect as Osborne, the deputy drove to the suspect's residence in the 14000 block of Campanula Road in Phelan, the sheriff’s report said.

Upon arrival, Lajuj discovered seven rolls of the stolen chain link fence hidden behind trees on the property. Some of the rolls of fencing still had the store barcodes affixed to them.

Osborne was arrested at the property and booked at the HDDC.
