PFF regrades the Vikings taking center Garrett Bradbury in 2019

The Vikings drafted center Garrett Bradbury in the first round, patching up an offensive line that needed work. Center isn’t exactly a premium position, but Minnesota was locked into players at key positions already.
PFF thinks, in hindsight, it wasn’t the best call. The outlet gave the Vikings a “POOR” grade for their pick of Bradbury. Here’s what it said about Minnesota’s draft pick in 2019:
“Bradbury’s pass-protection has been a borderline liability for Minnesota over the last couple of years. Among 41 centers to play at least 500 snaps in pass-protection in their first two seasons in the NFL, Bradbury ranks dead last in pass-block grade by nearly six grading points (36.3). Since being drafted, he has allowed a league-worst 5.2% pressure rate. Considering the low success rate of interior offensive linemen in the first round, as well as the sample we have on Bradbury through the first two years, things aren’t looking great for this selection.”
What’s even more concerning is that Minnesota finds itself in a very familiar position this year. The Vikings are locked into players like Kirk Cousins, Danielle Hunter, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson at the moment. It makes sense for them to draft a player at a less-impactful position. I think the team should probably trade back and reassess from there.
