Pete Davidson blames Ariana Grande for being followed by paparazzi
Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande broke up more than a year ago, in October 2018, but he’s still dragging around a souvenir from their relationship, and no, we don’t mean that tattoo, which he’s since had covered. It’s the paparazzi that Davidson has been unable to shake since his whirlwind relationship with the “Boyfriend” singer.
“It’s really annoying, cause I live in Staten Island [New York] and they come there now, because, like, Ariana Grande made me all famous and stuff,” the Saturday Night Live star said on the YouTube show Hot Ones. “It’s all her fault. It is! She set the wolves on me. She made me and created me, whatever they say. It sucks. It’s embarrassing, because I have a family that, like, my mom has to go to work, you know, and there’s this f***in’ weirdos outside, and it’s embarrassing and it sucks.”
Davidson explained that he and his mom bought a house together in the New York City borough because “it’s the Staten Island dream.”
He mentioned another way a trail of photographers cramps his style.
“And I like to smoke weed and be high in public, and it’s very scary when someone’s like [mimes a camera],” the comedian said. “Because, you know, you feel like you’re in the future.”
Davidson joined SNL in 2014, but the photographers descended once he began dating Grande. The couple met when she hosted the sketch show in 2016, but only began dating in May 2018, days after both had ended relationships with others, according to People. They were engaged the following month, but it was over by that October.

Davidson, who has previously spoken out about his struggle with mental illness, ended up leaving social media two months after his breakup with Grande. He reiterated his reason for doing so on Hot Ones, as he answered questions while eating spicy chicken wings.
“It’s definitely helped my mental health, I think,” he said. “I don’t think it’s good for anybody, but especially for anybody that has, like, a job around this stuff, cause you just, you see every comment. Also, like, no one gives a f*** about your f***in’ shoes or your watch or truck or any of that s***.”
