PEP grants awards to 11 teachers in Aiken County

May 14—The Public Education Partners of Aiken County recently made another donation to Aiken County Public School District to help fund teacher projects.

The donation was made during the Aiken County Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, May 10. Mike Rosier, communications director for ACPSD, said PEP was presenting a check for $5,197.04 to the district.

"The funds from this donation will be used to fund 11 teacher grant awards," Rosier said. "Through evaluating all of the grant applications sent to PEP, 11 projects were selected to receive awards. These grants totaled $5,197.04, with $1,925 of those funds related to STEAM."

The following teachers receiving awards: Alex Gomez at Millbrook Elementary School, Emily Bostedor at Millbrook Elementary School, Wendy Schilling at North Augusta Middle School, Fred Pilot at Aiken County Career and Technology Center, Uyen Thi Griffis at Hammond Hill Elementary School, Martha Sotelo-Singer at Silver Bluff High School, Michalene Langford at Warrenville Elementary School, Marquidria Jordan at North Aiken Elementary School, Jennifer McMillian at Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, Chelsea Mosher at Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School, Holly Palmer at Chukker Creek Elementary School, Dee Sanborn at Chukker Creek Elementary School, Kathleen Evans at Chukker Creek Elementary School, and Suzy Muller at Chukker Creek Elementary School.

Rosier said this was the second donation for the year, with the first one totaling $3,831.34. That donation funded seven grant projects, which included 14 educators.

"We're just grateful for the variety of business and individual contributions that value public education in Aiken County and look forward to being able to continue this in the next school year and beyond," said Gayle Gulick, the PEP board chair.
