People On Twitter Are Going Wild Over When We Were Young Fest, And It's Proving That Emo Isn't Just A Phase

If you haven't heard the good news yet, brace yourself: There's a Y2K, emo-themed music festival happening later this year called When We Were Young Festival.

My Chemical Romance and Paramore are headlining, so it will truly feel like you're transporting back to 2008. But if that's not enough for you, Bring Me the Horizon, A Day to Remember, and Avril Lavigne are going to be there too.

As you can probably imagine, the announcement of the festival alone was enough to fuel hundreds of memes and emo-enthused reactions on Twitter.

Many former emo kids joked that the festival was all part of the universe's redemption arc.

People also noted the design of the lineup poster, laughing that it resembled a 2000s-style collage for a desktop computer.

Others were amused at the thought of the festival's potential wristbands...

...and honestly, the festival creators are missing an opportunity here if they don't do this.

Everyone was having a blast with the memes. (Mean Girls looks different here...)

Some say this is a deleted scene from Shrek 5...

It's moments like these that make me wonder how this app is free.

But emo or not, it's clear everyone was just feeling nostalgic for the good old days. I mean, who doesn't miss when "Welcome to the Black Parade" was a Billboard Hot 100 hit?
