Pensacola Police no longer investigating claims man jumped off Pensacola Bay Bridge

The Pensacola Police Department is no longer investigating claims a man jumped off the Pensacola Bay Bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Mike Wood, PPD spokesman, told the News Journal Thursday morning the department is no longer investigating the claims, but did note police cannot say whether the claim is true or false.

"Nobody has been reported missing to us yet," Wood said. "We did not find anybody so we don't know if the information about the jumper was credible or not."

Police received reports just before 5 p.m. Wednesday that an unidentified male had jumped off the Pensacola Bay Bridge, leading to PPD officers blocking off lanes from Pensacola to Gulf Breeze.

Around 6 p.m., emergency vehicles unblocked lanes on the bridge, allowing traffic to continue to flow.
