PennDOT announces lane restrictions along Route 65 in Sewickley

SEWICKLEY — Drivers using Ohio River Boulevard for their daily commute will want to plan for possible delays until the end of the year.

PennDOT announced that Route 65 will experience daily lane restrictions in both directions through Sewickley from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday. Motorists should expect the restrictions to remain in place until the project's completion, which is anticipated to be Dec. 21.

The lane restrictions will be in place from the Chestnut Street and Bank Street intersection to the River Street and Broad Street intersection. Traffic near the Sewickley Bridge should be reduced from the amount seen earlier this month, as the opening of the Aliquippa-Ambridge Bridge on Tuesday afternoon will decrease the number of motorist utilizing the previous detour route.

Crews will be performing signal head installation and signal pole foundation drilling work throughout this period. The work is a part of a $3.03 million infrastructure project to improve roadways in the area and will be coordinated with the I-79 Neville Island Bridge Project.

Motorists are advised to practice caution when driving in the area for the workers' safety. Drivers can check the condition of the road and project status live on the 511PA website and smartphone app.
