Pedestrian struck and killed in Dickinson early Thursday

Jul. 29—A 22-year-old Mandan man was killed early Thursday morning when he was struck by a 25-year-old woman driving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox near the intersection of Broadway Street and First Avenue Southwest in Dickinson.

Morgan Laroche, of Dickinson, was traveling west bound with passenger Jacob Trinneer, 20, on Broadway Street when she struck a male pedestrian shortly after midnight. Laroche's drivers' side front corner struck the unidentified man, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol press release.

The pedestrian was in the middle of the roadway at the time of the crash, the NDHP confirmed.

Dickinson Police officers responded to the scene and located the unidentified Mandan man unresponsive in the roadway and began life-saving measures. The victim was transported in critical condition to CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Laroche, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and transported to the Southwest Multi-County Correctional Center and charged with Criminal Vehicular Homicide. Formal charges are expected later today from the Stark County State's Attorney Office.

According to NDHP, Laroche and Trinneer sustained no injuries in the incident.

Officials from NDHP continue to investigate the crash and the pedestrian's identity has not been released publicly pending notification of next of kin.
