Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle on U.S. 431 in Albertville

A pedestrian died Monday morning after he was hit by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 431 in Albertville, according to the Marshall County Coroner's Office.

At approximately 1:59 a.m. Monday, the Albertville Police and Fire Departments responded to U.S. 431 near the intersection with East Main Street, Assistant Chief John Amos said.

The pedestrian, David Paul Buchholz, 74, of Boaz, died at the scene from injuries he sustained.

The preliminary investigation indicated Buchholz was crossing the southbound lanes of U.S. 431 on foot after experiencing car trouble. He was struck by a 2020 Kia Optima that was traveling south on U.S. 431. The vehicle was being driven by a 21-year-old woman from Gadsden. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called 911 to report the accident.
