Peach Mountain development under construction in Norwegian Township

Jul. 30—POTTSVILLE — Construction is underway on a subdivision on Peach Mountain.

Grande Construction, of Reading, is building a 50-lot subdivision on the mountain in Norwegian Township.

The development will consist of single-family homes and be known as Granbury Manor Estates.

The paved driveway is visible from Peach Mountain Road, along with several homes that are under construction.

The developer obtained approval from the Norwegian Township planning commission to develop the property in November 2019.

When the plans were presented to the commission in late 2017, they called for it to be built in three phases.

The first called for one lot to be dedicated to the township for recreational use and another for needed future improvements such as retention ponds, according to Republican Herald archives. Plans also called for water and sewer.

At the time the plans were proposed, the smallest lot would be 33,000 square feet and the largest, 164,000, with construction starting as soon as permits were obtained.

Officials at Grande didn't provide information on the project, including on the construction timeline.

Information for the development from Grande's website mentions Granbury Manor Estates being in Pottsville and offers directions.

It also advertises Pottsville being near routes 61 and 209 and having "many parks and outdoor spaces," gardens, recreational centers, breweries and museums.
