May 16—BLOOMFIELD — Andrew Mitchell won a one-hole playoff to claim medalist honors and the PCM boys golf team advanced to the next round after securing a Class 2A sectional championship at the par 70 Bloomfield Country Club on Friday.

PCM shot a 363 and edged Pella Christian by four shots at the top. Both teams advanced to next week's district tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center.

"It was not really the score we were thinking, but it ended with the result we hoped for," PCM boys golf coach Mike Cardin said. "We are looking forward to districts."

Mitchell and Davis County's Easton White each carded an 83 to force a playoff. Mitchell won medalist after ending the sudden death period after one hole.

The other three counting scores for PCM were Gatlin Boell (91), Grant Landgrebe (94) and Grant Van Veen (95). Brian Nicholson (100) and Gabe Lanphier (102) had non-counting scores.

The rest of the eight-team field at Bloomfield Country Club included Van Buren (379), Pleasantville (383), Davis County (385), Chariton (398), Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (446) and Central Lee (486).

Other teams joining PCM and Pella Christian at the district meet next week will be Des Moines Christian (310), Grundy Center (325), Hudson (326) and Van Meter (330).

Lincoln Valley Golf Course is the course where PCM won the conference title at earlier this spring.
