Pat Boyd wins District 50 race

Nov. 10—Incumbent Pat Boyd ( Democrat) edged Aaron Soucy ( Republican) in the Connecticut House of Representatives election to represent District 50 on Tuesday.

Boyd posted NBC Connecticut's final results on his official Twitter page at 8: 42 a. m. Wednesday morning, which stated that he had earned 54% of the vote ( 6,043 votes) while Soucy received 46% of the vote (5,179 votes).

Boyd has represented District 50 since 2017. The district serves Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Mansfield, Pomfret and Woodstock.

Representatives are elected to two- year terms. Boyd will begin his new term in January.

Moving forward, Boyd will work to secure more funding for Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, ensure Connecticut has a balanced budget and preserve open space and farmland.

With the unofficial results in, just past midnight on Wednesday, Boyd thanked voters for their support in this year's election.

" I am deeply appreciative to the residents of Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Mansfield, Pomfret and Woodstock for the confidence you have shown in me to return to Hartford and work on your behalf," Boyd said on his official Twitter page.

Soucy thanked his supporters on his campaign Facebook page.

" I would like to thank the voters who supported my campaign," Soucy said on his campaign Facebook page. " I learned so much from you and will continue to reach out across this great district."

Boyd also said on his campaign Facebook page that moving forward he will continue to serve as a member of the Brooklyn Board of Finance.
