Parker Hill, LCBC churches joining to become one church

Jun. 19—A local church with three campuses in Northeast Pennsylvania is merging with a Lancaster County-based church that maintains 15 locations across the state.

Leaders of both Parker Hill Church and LCBC Church, which stands for Lives Changed by Christ, began discussing the possibility of joining to become one church in early 2020. The congregations of both churches voted to affirm that decision earlier this month, according to an announcement on LCBC's website dated June 9.

Parker Hill's campuses in Waverly Twp., Dickson City and Plains Twp. will join LCBC's 15 locations "and a growing online community, and become one church home under LCBC's name," the announcement reads. Founded in 1986, LCBC was formerly known as Lancaster County Bible Church.

A legal notice of dissolution published in The Times-Tribune on June 12 states Parker Hill's intention "to transfer all of its rights, title and interest in all of its assets" to LCBC.

The decision to join the two churches "stems from a lot of conversation and prayer, but at its core the two churches believe that they will be better and more effective at reaching the state with the love of Jesus than they are apart from one another," according to the June 9 announcement.

Efforts to reach officials from both churches were unsuccessful Friday.
