Panthers QB Cam Newton connects with DJ Moore on effortless 64-yard pass

Excuse me, but we were told the arm of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was shot. Well, there was some kind of shot Sunday in Miami.

On the offense’s second possession of the game, Newton lofted a pretty deep ball to wideout DJ Moore. Then Moore, who had a pair of big drops on the first two passes of the afternoon, certainly made up for his past flubs with this one.

Given, the throw could’ve ideally had a bit more on it in leading Moore to the end zone. But, for a guy whose shoulder is supposedly washed, the effortless chuck started from his own 20-yard line and wound up all the way down to the Dolphins’ 30.

The 64-yard completion would later set up a rushing touchdown from Newton—his third already this season. He also got a nice assist from right guard Trent Scott on the push.

The score helped knot the contest at 7-7 with just over six minutes remaining in the first quarter.
