Pandemic can't pause Peeps. Annual diorama contest is on!

Mar. 6—The pandemic may have taken a lot of the sweetness out of our lives, but spring brings hope. And those brightly hued, sugary seasonal treats: Peeps. And the Pioneer Press' annual Peeps Diorama Contest.

Gather your pod peeps and get to work. To be in the running, make a diorama of any size featuring Marshmallow Peeps. The theme is wide open, as usual — anything from current affairs to celebrities, the weather, daily life, movies, Netflix, movies on Netflix, books. This year, we've got a special category (and special prizes) for dioramas honoring the frontline workers who have done so much as we cope with COVID-19 — health care workers, first-responders, the barista who concocts your favorite brew, the folks at the grocery store — you know the heroes we're talking about.

When it's complete, take a photo of your diorama and upload it here:

Include the name and email address of the creator or creators when registering. If the creator is younger than 12, make sure you tell us in order to be eligible for the youth prize.

The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, March 26.

Winners will receive gift cards in the amount of $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. The winning youth submission

will receive a $25 gift card.

Diorama artists also compete for the chance to have their creation viewed in the Easter Sunday edition of the Pioneer Press on April

4. Winners will be chosen by a team of judges at the Pioneer Press.
