If Pamela Anderson's unexpected wedding took her son by surprise, he's taking the news in stride.

The "Baywatch" actress wed Hollywood producer Jon Peters this week in a private ceremony, decades after they initially dated in the 1980s. Peters proposed to her back then, but Anderson turned him down, mostly due to their age difference; he's more than 20 years her senior.

But birth dates have no bearing on how Anderson's son, Brandon Thomas Lee, feels about the relationship.

"I'm incredibly happy for my mom and Jon," Lee told Fox News in a statement. "They’ve known each other for over 35 years, and I wish them luck in this next chapter of their lives together."

He added, "I will support the happy couple however I can, and I’m excited to get to know Jon’s family even better.”

It's unclear how many people were present at the Malibu wedding ceremony, but according to the couple, the big day was a long time coming. Anderson even shared a photo of the two holding hands during her early Playboy days.

"There is much more to her than meets the eye, or I wouldn’t love her so much,” Peters told THR. "There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but — for 35 years — I’ve only wanted Pamela."

Anderson, for her part, penned a poem about her beau: "His life used to scare me. So much for a girl like me. Now I've seen more of life and realize he's been there all along," one segment reads.

The poem continues, "We understand and respect each other. We love each other without conditions. I'ma lucky woman. Proof God has a plan."

The wedding marks the fifth for both Anderson and Peters.
