Pacers injuries: Tyrese Haliburton is on crutches after leaving game with knee injury

Jan 11, 2023; New York, New York, USA; Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton (0) shoots the ball during the second quarter against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton left Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks in the third quarter with a knee injury. The team announced he would not return.

Haliburton collided with Knicks big man Isaiah Hartenstein on a drive to the basket, lost his shoe and got up limping. He went straight to the locker room.

He had 15 points and 7 rebounds at the time. He left Madison Square Garden uses crutches after the Pacers' 119-113 loss.

Coach Rick Carlisle said Haliburton suffered knee and elbow injuries.

"Tyrese on the fall, I believe it was the third quarter (hurt his) left elbow, left knee; he's going to leave the building on crutches just so everybody's aware," Carlisle said. "He'll get checked out (Thursday), we hope it's not serious."

Carlisle added that Haliburton's availability for Friday's game against the Atlanta Hawks and Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies is questionable.

"One of the great things about Tyrese is he has been banged up the last year and a half that he's been with us and he always wants to play," Carlisle said. "He always wants to play, and it's something that's really helped our culture as a team. So we'll hope for the best. We're surely not going to put him in harm's way."

The Pacers were already without Myles Turner, Aaron Nesmith and Oshae Brissett because of injuries, and they trailed by 25 points early in the third quarter. However, they closed the gap to single digits in the fourth quarter.

Carlisle ended any rumors of a potential trade involving Turner, saying the center's back spasmed before the game and he was not able to play.

"We finished our team meeting and then as the players got up to go out, Myles Turner had a spasm reaction in his back," Carlisle said. "It tightened up pretty significantly. So trainers worked on it for a while and all of a sudden he was ruled out. He's not been traded."
