Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman added one of Mississippi's top linebackers with the commitment of Oxford's Alex Sanford on Sunday.

The three-star recruit is the No. 14 recruit in the state and No. 63 linebacker nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Sanford also had offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Jackson State among others.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Sanford had 120 tackles, 17 for loss, three sacks and five quarterback hurries in 12 games last season. The senior helped lead the Chargers to a 8-5 record.

Sanford joins Oxford quarterback Mack Howard in leaving the state. Howard, the No. 1 rated quarterback in the state, committed to Utah in March. Five of the top 15 prospects in the Class of 2023 are committed to schools outside the state.
