Only eight new cases of COVID-19 reported in NEPA

Jun. 20—One death and only eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday in the seven-county region of Northeast Pennsylvania, according to state Department of Health data.

The one death was reported in Wayne County. Statewide, nine total deaths were recorded on the Health Department's COVID-19 dashboard update Sunday. State daily update figures on cases and deaths have been subject to change from the refining of data.

The Department of Health reported 166 new cases statewide for a total of 1,210,240, which includes 196,891 probable, an increase of 11 from the number of new cases reported Saturday.

Statewide, 11,424,133 vaccines have been administered, of which 5,239,933 are fully covered, data from the vaccine dashboard also updated Sunday shows.

By county:

Lackawanna added two cases for 18,533 total, of which 2,902 were probable. The county remained at 480 deaths.

Luzerne added one new case for 32,049 total, including 2,619 probable, and remained at 823 deaths.

Monroe added four cases for 14,802 total, including 464 probable, and remained at 321 deaths.

Pike added one case for 4,027 total, including 432 probable, and remained at 54 deaths.

Susquehanna had no new cases or deaths and remained at 2,659 total infections, including 349 probable, and 62 deaths.

Wayne had no new cases and remained at 4,142 total infections, including 442 probable. One new death was reported in the county, for 84 total deaths.

Wyoming had no new cases or deaths and remained at 1,995 total infections, including 355 probable, and remained at 54 deaths.
