As Omicron spreads, here's where you can get tested for COVID-19 in Sheboygan County

Sheboygan County's COVID-19 Community Level rises to medium. What this means for residents.

SHEBOYGAN - With COVID-19 cases surging in Sheboygan County, demand for tests has increased and it may be more difficult to get an appointment.

Appointments at local testing sites may need to be scheduled one to three days in advance, Sheboygan County public health officials told The Sheboygan Press.

Instead of visiting a local testing site, people in need of a PCR test can request a COVID-19 At-Home Collection Kit from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 19, people can also go to https://www.covidtests.gov/ to request up to 4 home COVID tests per household, free of cost. People just need to provide a name and residential mailing address.

In-person testing at some Sheboygan County locations is limited to people who are either experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines a close contact as someone who has been within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes over a 24-hour period — regardless of whether the close contact was wearing a mask and/or vaccinated.

COVID-19 symptoms can include a fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, fatigue, body or muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of smell or taste.
