Omaha Biliew, 5-star Iowa State basketball target, set to announce top 5 schools in February

Omaha Biliew's recruitment is about to hit its next phase.

The dominant 6-foot-8 athlete who played his first two high school seasons in Iowa and is now starring for Link Year Prep in Missouri plans to announce his top five college options on Feb. 14, his personal coach, Tyler Sass, told the Register.

Biliew, a five-star 2023 prospect who was at Dowling Catholic as a freshman before helping lead Waukee to its first boys basketball state title as a sophomore, has visited Iowa State multiple times dating back to last June, including his most recent trip to Ames when the Cyclones beat Chicago State on Dec. 21. He was also on campus as an unofficial visitor for the Cy-Hawk football game on Sept. 11, alongside Cyclone signees Tamin Lipsey, Eli King and Demarion Watson.

Iowa State is seen as one of the top contenders for Biliew. The other main schools currently involved include Kentucky, Kansas, LSU, Oregon, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. Nebraska is also in the picture, although it has faded.

Link Year Prep is currently 24-0 and rated as one of the top high school programs in the country. Biliew plays forward on a roster full of high-major and blue-chip talent. His 3-point shot has seen significant improvement this season.

Biliew is a consensus five-star talent and the No. 7 prospect in the national 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite. He has the full attention of Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger and assistant coach J.R. Blount, who has led the recruiting effort.

Some other of Iowa State's top 2023 recruiting targets include Wisconsin four-star forward Milan Momcilovic (who visited unofficially Dec. 11-12); Ohio three-star guard Devin Royal and Illinois three-star guard Cam Christie (who both officially visited Dec. 18-20); and Illinois three-star guard Ty Pence (who officially visited Dec. 8-10).
