Oley Valley rallies to beat Exeter in 8 innings in BCIAA baseball quarterfinal

May 14—Oley Valley's Andrew McMullen singled in the winning run in the eighth inning as the Lynx rallied to beat Exeter 5-4 in a Berks Baseball League quarterfinal Thursday at Owls Field in West Lawn.

The fourth-seeded Lynx (15-3) scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth after the fifth-seeded Eagles (11-8) took the lead in the top half.

Oley will take on Wilson, a 6-1 quarterfinal winner over Twin Valley, in the second game of a semifinal doubleheader Monday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Exeter jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first before Oley tied it with a pair of runs in the third.

The Lynx went up 3-2 in the sixth, then the Eagles tied it in the seventh.

Garet Blankenbiller allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits in seven innings for Oley. He walked one and struck one three.

Deven Sheerin went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Exeter.

The victory was Oley's first in the quarterfinals since it won the title in 2013.
