Three things to know about OSU vs. Iowa State
► OSU guard Bryce Williams is doubtful for the game after suffering an ankle injury a week ago against TCU. He did not play in Saturday’s loss to TCU. Cowboys coach Mike Boynton said Monday that Williams had not practiced but is improving.
► The Cowboys and Cyclones have two of the better defenses in the country, with Iowa State ranked No. 6 in KenPom.com’s adjusted defensive efficiency rankings, one spot ahead of OSU. Iowa State allows just 59.9 points per game and is allowing opponents to shoot 40.8%. OSU allows 65 points per game and 39.1% shooting.
► OSU has won four straight against the Cyclones, who have remade themselves under first-year coach T.J. Otzelberger. That includes bringing in Minnesota transfer Gabe Kalscheur, who has been a problem for the Cowboys. In two previous matchups, he’s averaged 24 points and made 10 of 15 3-pointers. He also had a career-high 34 points against OSU in a win at Tulsa’s BOK Center in December 2019.
