During Tuesday’s training camp practice, Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault spoke to the media.

One of the topics discussed was the Ty Jerome situation. The Thunder reported prior to media day that Jerome would not participate in training camp as he works with the team to take the next step in his future.

Which is essentially coded talk for Jerome wanting out of the Thunder. Which is hard to blame him for; the Thunder have a logjam of younger guards on the roster that the team likely prioritizes over the fourth-year player whose rookie contract expires after this season.

When asked for a comment, Daigneault essentially confirmed Jerome’s tenure with the Thunder is unofficially over and that he’ll either get traded or waived.

“That was a decision that came to where it is now between Sam and Ty’s representation and this is the resolution that they landed on,” Daigneault said. “Very grateful for Ty and his time here. We take a lot of pride not only in how our players develop while they’re between our walls, but also in what they do after they leave. Not every player is going to play here forever, just the nature of the NBA. But we really, truly care about our guys… We want them to go on and have success.”

In 112 career games spanning over three seasons, Jerome has averaged 7.1 points, 1,6 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 37.8 percent shooting.
