Ohio State vs. Indiana halftime review: 3 takeaways

The Ohio State Buckeyes are taking it to the Indiana Hoosiers in impressive fashion and if you put any money on Ohio State at all you must be feeling pretty good right now. I have to give props to my fellow writers on Buckeyes Wire who identified this as an easy win, because I fell for the classic Indiana trap storyline and thought this would be a contest. Instead, OSU is up 44-7 at the half and doing about everything it wants on offense.

Now I will say, the Hoosiers look much different with a healthy Michael Penix Jr. under center and they would probably look slightly more competitive with a healthy Jack Tuttle, but this is football and injuries are all part of the game. I want to dive into the three things that have most interested me so far this game and they are actually all positive.

Next…TreVeyon Henderson the GOAT?

TreVeyon Henderson is on pace to become the most accomplished back in Ohio State history!

Okay so maybe I need to pump the breaks on already placing true freshman running back TreVeyon Henderson in the elite tier of Ohio State running back history along with J.K. Dobbins, Eddie George, Keith Byars, and Archie Griffin, but wow is Henderson a stud.

He already has three touchdowns in the first half and he’s able to do it with a blend of power and speed both on the ground and out of the backfield.

Next…Steele Chambers is a star

Steele Chambers may be a linebacker to watch on the rise

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Steele Chambers was a former running back that made the transition during fall camp. And … if you haven’t heard it 1,000 times already on the interweb, now you know. In all seriousness, it is rare to make a position change and be this fantastic this fast, especially when you are not only changing positions but moving across the ball.

Chambers just has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and his gradual improvement has made the biggest difference on this defense, and it has gone a little under the radar.

Next…C.J. Stroud is a true Heisman candidate

C.J. Stroud is a star!

I need to know what C.J. Stroud did to rehab that shoulder because he is a different quarterback. I will be the first to admit that I had my doubts about Stroud, but after the Akron week where he had time for contemplation and rehab, I don’t think we have seen him overthrow one ball.

He’s lighting up the Indiana defense, in the rain, on the road. He’s a legitimate Heisman contender and he’s only going to continue to rise if he keeps playing like this in other prime-time games.
