Ohio State football remains No. 3 in AP, coaches polls following Wisconsin rout

Ohio State did not move up in the polls following its dominant win over Wisconsin.

The Buckeyes remained at No. 3 in both the Associated Press and coaches rankings released Sunday.

Georgia remained atop the polls, followed by Alabama. Both of the Southeastern Conference schools are also 4-0 at the end of the first month.

But the Buckeyes did pick up a few first-place votes after their 52-21 trouncing of the Badgers to open Big Ten play, receiving four in each of the polls after they had garnered only one in each of the previous two weeks.

The margin between them and the Crimson Tide is increasingly thin in the AP poll with only four vote points separating them. It was 75 last week.

Alabama is more popular among the coaches than the sportswriters. It received 26 first-place votes in the coaches poll and is within five vote points of the Bulldogs. The Tide received four first-place votes like the Buckeyes from the AP poll.

Ohio State had been No. 2 in the preseason in both of the polls before it was leapfrogged by Georgia after the Bulldogs handled Oregon in their season opener.
