Ohio State baseball drops second straight vs. Michigan State
The Ohio State baseball team is seeing its shot at any kind of postseason slip away. To be fair, at just around and above .500, it was going to be an uphill climb anyhow, but the schedule was favorable heading down the stretch. But instead of taking advantage this weekend against a Michigan State team in the bottom three of the league, the Buckeyes have started the weekend series by dropping the first two.
After giving up a ten-spot on Friday night, OSU did much better in the pitching department on Saturday, surrendering just two runs. Unfortunately, the bats cooled and could not come up with a timely hit to make the pitching hold up, and Ohio State lost 2-0.
The Spartans lone two runs came on a two-out home run in the top of the fifth inning, and that was enough to hold up. Buckeye pitching gave up just five hits, but OSU could only muster four base knocks itself.
If there’s a silver lining in the loss, Ohio State did have two players extend their hitting streaks on Saturday. Seniors Brent Todys and Connor Pohl both got one hit to extend their streaks to 14 and 16 respectively.

With the loss, the Buckeyes record falls to 18-16. The Spartans improve to 15-22. The last game of the three-game weekend series wraps up on Sunday at 1:05 pm.
