Ohio boys basketball poll: Elder, Fairfield tie for No. 6, Woodward No. 5 in Division II

With a loss to Turpin last week, Elder High School dropped a spot in the latest Ohio high school boys basketball media rankings. Turpin knocked off Elder 49-41 Jan. 11 with the Panthers missing starting guard Sean Keller. They rebounded Friday with Keller, defeating La Salle 50-43 on the road.

Elder now comes in at No. 6, with Fairfield moving up from 10th to share the spot with the Panthers. Fairfield is 13-2 after losing 71-67 to Division II No. 1 Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in the Flyin' To The Hoop weekend tournament. Fairfield will host Mason Friday, while Elder is at Oak Hills Tuesday and at St. Xavier Friday.

Woodward dropped from No. 3 to No. 5 after a Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference win over Taft, followed by a loss to Kettering Fairmont.

In Division III, Taft moved up a spot despite falling to Woodward last Tuesday. The Senators rebounded with a 58-49 win over Withrow. Both Taft and Woodward were scheduled in Martin Luther King Jr. Day games at the Flyin' To The Hoop tourney in Kettering. Woodward (9-3) will play at Western Hills (10-4) Tuesday.

Taft is on the road this week at Hughes Tuesday and Aiken on Friday.
