A third former Louisiana football player is joining former Ragin’ Cajuns coach Billy Napier at Florida.

All-Sun Belt Conference offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence, a future NFL prospect, used a post on Twitter to report Monday that he has committed to the Gators.

Torrence will join former teammates Montrell Johnson Jr. and Kam Waites in Gainesville.

Johnson, who was a key part of UL’s three-man running backs rotation as a freshman in 2021, and Waites, a freshman reserve offensive lineman, both joined the Gators earlier this month.

Torrence started at right guard for UL the past three seasons.

The product of St. Helena High in tiny Greensburg received multiple Power 5 offers shortly after entering the transfer portal in early January, including ones from LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Clemson, USC, Michigan State and Miami.

Right guard O'Cyrus Torrence, who is joining Florida after two seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns, sits in his stance during UL's 2020 win over UAB at Legion Field in Birmingham.

Torrence becomes the sixth former Cajun to join a Power 5 program out of the portal since last season ended, along with Johnson, Waites, rotation-regular running back Emani Bailey (TCU), key receiver Kyren Lacy (LSU) and starting cornerback Mekhi Garner (LSU).

A seventh former Cajun, starting inside linebacker Lorenzo McCaskill, remains uncommitted after entering the portal late last week.

Torrence, who visited Florida over the weekend, also will be reunited in Gainesville with former UL offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Rob Sale and assistant offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton.

Sale, a former LSU offensive lineman who worked at UL under Napier from 2018-20 and at Arizona State when Napier was offensive coordinator there in 2017, was the New York Giants’ offensive line coach before recently joining Florida’s staff as offensive line coach/offensive coordinator.

Stapleton, who spent one season at UL, was one of three former assistant coaches who went to Florida shortly after Napier left UL late last season, along with defensive coordinator Patrick Toney and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. Several former strength and conditioning and recruiting staffer members also followed Napier to Florida, including strength coach Mark Hocke.
