Oak Creek residents are stuffing stockings for low- and limited-income seniors this year. Here's how you can help.

St. Nick comes to fill stockings in early December, but Oak Creek residents have been filling them since late November for local seniors.

The Stockings for Seniors program began Nov. 24. Residents can pick up a stocking at the Oak Creek Civic Center, 8040 S. 6th St. which contains a list of items to be purchased and stuffed inside, according to an announcement on the city's website.

The goal of the stocking stuffing is to “share holiday cheer with those in our community,” according to the Oak Creek Celebrations Commission, which is sponsoring the program.

Whoever picks up the stocking can purchase any or all the suggested gifts. The stockings must be dropped off at the Oak Creek Library’s second-floor customer service desk on or before Dec. 17.

The stockings will be delivered on Dec. 22 to senior residents at Booth Manor, a lower/limited income senior living facility operated by the Salvation Army. Booth Manor is subsidized through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and Housing and Urban Development.
