NY state police: 1 dead, 2 injured in single-vehicle rollover crash in Town of Oxford

One person is dead and two others were injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in the Chenango County Town of Oxford.

The crash took place around 4:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 1100 Hoben Road in Oxford, according to New York State Police at Norwich.

Troopers identified the victim as Taylor M. Demuth, 18 of Norwich.

The investigation revealed Ayden N. Strong, 18, also of Norwich, was operating a 1991 Chevrolet single cab pickup truck on Hoben Road when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle overturned, state police said.

Demuth was partially ejected from the pickup during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other occupants of the vehicle received minor, non-life-threatening injuries in the incident, troopers said.

The investigation also determined the pickup truck was unregistered and uninsured and that Strong was not licensed, state police said.

Demuth's mother, Heather Colley, of Norwich, set up a gofundme page to help pay for funeral and burial expenses.

"Taylor was an amazing son, grandson, nephew, and most of all my best friend," Colley said on the page. "He would do anything for his family and friends to see a smile on their face."

The investigation into the crash is continuing. State police were assisted at the scene by Chenango County EMS and Greene EMS, Oxford Fire Department and Emergency Squad, and Chenango County Fire Coordinators.
