Notre Dame has the top returning offensive tackle according to Pro Football Focus

As Notre Dame prepares themselves for the 2023 season, there is one position they have zero question marks at, left tackle. Although joe alt arrived in South Bend without too much fanfare, he quickly showed that recruiting analysts were completely wrong about his ability (according to the 247Sports composite rankings, he was the 400th best overall player in the country).

It very well could have been the fact that Alt played tight end in high school and moonlit as a tackle but when you possess the size and athletic ability to do that, it should have been easy to see how a full-time move to tackle would unlock Alt’s potential.

Well, fast forward two years and Alt is coming off an All-American campaign and is viewed by Pro Football Focus as the top returning offensive tackle in the country.

This is good and bad news for the Irish. The good is that Alt is once again anchoring the offensive line. The bad, after this season the junior will have a huge decision to make regarding the NFL. If he does what we all expect him to do, Alt will easily be a top-10 pick and should declare for the draft.
