Norwin Chamber to hold OktCHAMBERfest fundraiser

Sep. 17—Fans of German food and a beer can partake of both while raising money for scholarships at the Norwin Chamber of Commerce's fourth OktCHAMBERfest from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 22 at Quinn Brewing, Banco Business Park, 3000 Commerce Loop, North Huntingdon.

Participants will receive a commemorative beer glass, one OktCHAMBERfest beer, light German fare, and a raffle ticket, for a $25 donation. All proceeds will go toward the chamber's two annual scholarships, which will be the only fundraiser for the scholarships, said Rosanne Novotnak, chamber president.

The chamber could not hold the OktCHAMBERfest last year because of the covid pandemic, Novotnak said.

For a $5 donation, men and women can enter a beer stein-holding contest to determine who can hold a beer-filled stein the longest. The traditional Bavarian stein-holding contest has steins filled with one liter of beer and requires competitors to hold their arm straight, parallel to the ground.

Registration will be held at the event for those interested in testing their strength. The competition is limited to the first six men and the first six women to register.

The man and woman who win the contest get two entree gift cards for Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh at the city's South Side Works, 2705 S Water St.

Tickets for the OktCHAMBERfest are available through the chamber's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/NorwinChamberFacebook, and Eventbrite.
