Norwich's Mark Ambruso named 2022 Connecticut Middle School Principal of the Year

Norwich resident Mark Ambruso was named the 2022 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Connecticut Association of Schools.

"I am humbled and honored to receive this award," Ambruso is quoted saying in a Connecticut Association of Schools press release. "This would not be possible without the collective commitment and exemplary efforts of my colleague and assistant principal, Noah Ventola, and Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School's faculty and staff. Most importantly, I'd like to thank our wonderful families and amazing students. The success of our middle school and district is a testament to the support and direction of our superintendent, central office, and board of education. I'd like to also thank my wife and children for supporting me and sharing in my career."

Ambruso is the principal of Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He was nominated by 17 members of his staff, according to the Connecticut Association of Schools, a number the association called a "demonstrative outpouring of support."

The association has chosen principals of the year since 1984, and began awarding the title to a middle school and high school principal each in 1992. The program feeds into the National Association of Secondary School Principals' Principal of the Year program.
