Norwalk boy steps up to help others

Dec. 4—NORWALK — Giving back in a big way.

Isaiah Kelsey, a seventh-grader at Norwalk Middle School, injured his leg this season playing football for the Truckers, which meant he could not run in the fifth annual Turkey Trot this year.

The race, held annually on Thanksgiving morning, was hosted at Buckeye Pub by Beer30 Running Club on Nov. 24.

Instead of running, Isaiah offered to purchase the finisher medals for the race out of his own money he raised from cutting grass this summer.

In exchange of a registration fee, runners were asked to donate a toy for a child in need this Christmas.

Buckeye Pub opened the doors for the race and partnered with Beer30 Running Club. Together, they were able to gather a generous amount of toys and donations to go to families in need this Christmas.

Isaiah and his family delivered the donations to the Foundation Church on U.S. 20 East in Norwalk.
