North Port modifies curfew hours, limits application to areas without power

NORTH PORT – The city of North Port has modified its Hurricane Ian-related curfew, effective Tuesday night.

The curfew is now in effect from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. – only in portions of the city where power has not yet been restored.

Operation Blue Roof, a free federal program to provide temporary cover for damaged roofs is coming to North Port, as well as elsewhere in Sarasota County.

Residents can sign up and check the status of their applications through the online portal available at BlueRoof.us or call 888-766-3258 to speak to a live operator and apply.

Hours of operation for the phone line are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The City is finalizing a plan to set up a resource center to provide in-person assistance with FEMA applications and other services. For the latest updates, visit northportfl.gov/alerts, follow the City of North Port’s verified accounts on Facebook and Twitter or text NPStrong to 888777.

The city of North Port is advising homeowners to document any damage to their homes sustained as a result of Hurricane Ian, including photos, estimates for repair and receipts for repair work or the purchase of supplies used to protect or repair their homes.

Documentation will be necessary to submit a federal assistance claim to FEMA. Residents can begin the application process at disasterassistance.gov or by downloading the FEMA app online. If you don't have access to the internet, you also can apply by phone: 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585.
