North Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs has reopened at the wash after closing Sunday morning because of low visibility and sand buildup.

The closure extended from Salvia Road, just south of Interstate 10, to East Via Escuela. It was announced at 6 a.m.

The northern portion of Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs saw high winds Saturday that are expected to continue on Sunday and for the next few days, the National Weather Service said. Wind speeds were expected to peak Sunday night with peak winds of 35 mph and gusts of 50 mph expected in north Palm Springs. Winds of 25 mph and gusts of 40 mph were expected during the day on Sunday.

East Vista Chino, which had been closed between Clubhouse Drive in Palm Springs and Carmela Drive since Saturday, reopened Sunday morning around 11:30 a.m.
