Noose found in tree near Enfield school: police

Apr. 14—ENFIELD — Police are investigating after a wire tied like a noose was found in a tree at a magnet school in town.

Chief Alaric J. Fox said in a statement the department received a call Tuesday at about 7 p.m. from someone who reported seeing a section of orange electrical wire tied at the end in a noose-like fashion.

The noose was about 20 feet high in a tree behind the football field at the CREC Civic Leadership School at 1617 King St. The school is a regional magnet school managed by the Capitol Region Education Council.

Police believe it was placed there sometime within the previous week, Fox said.

The department patrol and detective divisions are investigating, and the FBI has been notified of the incident, Fox said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Enfield Police Department at 860-763-6400,
