Nominations open for Journal's 10th Top Workplaces program

Dec. 5—A little introspection never hurts — especially if you are an employer in the midst of the so-called "Great Resignation" and looking for insights to help you recruit and retain top talent.

Next year will mark the Journal's 10th annual Top Workplaces program. The awards and rewards program gives New Mexico employers an opportunity to garner insights into the health of their workplace culture, as well as to recognize workers, mentors and leaders, and distinguish themselves in the eyes of job-seekers.

The Journal partners with research firm Energage, which conducted surveys last year in 61 markets across the country.

The program's nomination window for 2022 is now open and we invite New Mexico employers to take advantage of the benefits Top Workplaces provides.

Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage, said today's climate makes Top Workplaces particularly relevant.

"Leaders in today's post-COVID workplace are facing a new reality," Rubino wrote in an email. "Employees have more choices. You can work anywhere. There are no longer geographic boundaries. Companies need to authentically represent their brand to job-seekers. The employee experience needs to be on the mission-critical list. Leaders who embrace a people-first culture will benefit greatly. By giving employees a voice and showcasing your authentic culture through employer branding, organizations can attract those job-seekers who complement their culture. Culture drives performance."

For the 2021 event, the Journal and Energage invited 887 New Mexico organizations to participate, collected in-depth surveys from 73 workplaces and ultimately recognized the top 52 in a special edition of Business Outlook. More than 8,000 employees returned surveys as part of the program.

Last year's top-ranked employers were: Nusenda Credit Union among large workplaces, Behavior Change Institute among medium workplaces and Parnall Law among small workplaces.

Parameters of the program are:

—Any organization — public, private, nonprofit or government — with 35 or more employees in New Mexico is eligible to participate.

—Workplaces are evaluated by their employees using a short, 24-question survey.

—Companies will be surveyed between December and March.
