No COVID-19 deaths reported in the state, 60 new cases in west central Minnesota

May 10—WILLMAR — There were no new COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota on Monday, according to the state's daily situation update.

Across the 11-county region tracked by the West Central Tribune, there were another 60 newly reported cases of the disease caused by the coronavirus, 39 of them coming from Stearns County. Another 10 were reported in Kandiyohi County with Meeker reporting four new cases.

Pope and Renville counties each had three new cases and Swift County had one. Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Redwood and Yellow Medicine counties all reported no new cases on Monday.

Minnesota had 1,191 new cases on Monday, bringing the cumulative total to 588,952.

Of the total, 41,920 of them have been among health care workers.

The state's current total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 remained at 7,231. Most of the deaths, 4,378, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 5,911 of the people who died were 70 or older.

The information was included in the latest daily situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

Since the start of the pandemic, the number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the number of deaths includes:

Big Stone County: 598 cases; 4 deaths

Chippewa County: 1,517 cases; 38 deaths

Kandiyohi County: 6,516 cases; 83 deaths

Lac qui Parle County: 750 cases; 22 deaths

Meeker County: 2,541 cases; 40 deaths

Pope County: 1,094 cases; 6 deaths

Redwood County: 1,726 cases; 36 deaths

*

Renville County: 1,789 cases; 43 deaths

Stearns County: 22,116 cases; 221 deaths

Swift County: 1,049 cases; 18 deaths

Yellow Medicine County: 1,138 cases; 20 deaths

The state is now also reporting daily vaccine administration numbers. As of Monday's report, 2,661,153 people have received at least one dose and 2,163,864 have completed the vaccine series statewide.

According to the figures available Monday, the percentage of individuals age 16 and over who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in area counties includes:
