No. 15 DWU volleyball falls in five sets at Concordia

Oct. 24—SEWARD, Neb. — The 15th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team took the first two sets off Concordia but was unable to clinch a win as the Tigers fell in five sets on Saturday. Set scores were 22-25, 26-28, 25-10, 25-19 and 15-10.

The Tigers (21-7, 9-5 Great Plains Athletic Conference) overcame deficits in both set wins, but were unable to withstand a Concordia (12-10, 7-7 GPAC) offense that hit above .300 in each of the final four sets, including a mark of .516 in the third set.

Abigail Brunsing (12), Ady Dwight (11) and Mackenzie Miller (11) recorded double-digit kills for DWU, aided by 42 assists and 14 digs from Madeline Else.

A quartet of Bulldogs surpassed 10 kills, including a 25-kill, 20-dig effort from Camryn Opfer and 21 kills by Erica Heinzerling off the bench. Tara Callahan put up 50 assists, and Bree Burtwistle added 24 more.

DWU hosts Mount Marty in its last home match of the season on Friday, Oct. 29, before wrapping up the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at Jamestown.
