NM Museum of Natural History closed until March 17
Feb. 27—ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will be closed until Wednesday, March 17, because four positive cases of COVID-19 were reported by museum staff members, earlier this week.
In all cases, the virus was contracted outside the workplace, according to a news release from the state Department of Cultural Affairs.
"In an abundance of caution, those working at (the museum) since it reopened on Feb. 17 are self-isolating for two weeks and have been asked to contact the New Mexico Department of Health if they experience any symptoms," the DCA said in a statement. "The highest priority of the NM Department of Cultural Affairs is the health and safety of our visitors and staff, and we are taking every necessary precaution to prevent, manage, and mitigate the possibility of the virus spreading at one of our facilities."
Staff and contractors at the facility are expected to utilize appropriate PPE and observe social distancing at all times.
