Late night hosts mercilessly mock Trump’s Tulsa rally

Two days after President Trump’s Tulsa rally fell well short of expectations, late night hosts had a field day with what some might perceive as a failure on the part of the Trump campaign, particularly on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show With Trevor Noah. It didn’t help that Trump and others in the campaign boasted that there had been nearly a million ticket requests.

STEPHEN COLBERT: The emptiest of all of the empty seats were in the stadiums upper deck. So before anyone says that the Trump campaign crapped the bed, clearly they pulled an upper decker.

KYLIE MAR: On "The Late Show" Monday night, Stephen Colbert had fun at President Trump's expense following the low turnout at the president's rally in Tulsa Saturday night. And it didn't help that Trump bragged about ticket requests leading up to the event.

DONALD TRUMP: And we've never had an empty seat, and we certainly won't in Oklahoma.

STEPHEN COLBERT: He's right. There wasn't an empty seat. There were thousands of them. Wow! That's a lot of empty space and aimless mingling.

KYLIE MAR: On "The Daily Show," Trevor Noah mocked those who did show up for their thunderous applause after Trump, looking to put that embarrassing moment from a week earlier behind him, demonstrated at the rally that he can drink a glass of water with one hand.

TREVOR NOAH: Yeah! Woo! I'm proud to live in a country where the president can drink water with just one hand, sometimes.

KYLIE MAR: And Noah shared his thoughts on Trump's return to the White House after the rally.

TREVOR NOAH: I have never seen a person get out of a helicopter looking that sad. He looks like he's walking home after a wedding where he got stood up at the altar, but still had to party, because everything was non-refundable. [CRIES]

KYLIE MAR: Following the rally, it came to light that TikTok users and K-pop fans trolled the Trump campaign by requesting tickets with no intention of showing up. And Colbert had a message for those who took part.

STEPHEN COLBERT: I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, which I'm told this is in the K-pop world. And I hope-- I hope that's not another prank.
