A 42-year-old man died Friday night and others were injured in an accident involving a motorcycle, a Sarasota County Area Transit bus and a van.

Just before midnight Friday, a motorcycle traveling near Clark Road and Lawton Drive failed to properly turn and collided with a concrete median, and the driver was separated from the motorcycle.

The motorcycle overturned into the path of a van traveling west on Clark Road. The van hit the motorcycle. A third vehicle, an empty SCAT bus, also collided with the motorcycle and the driver, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 1:20 a.m. Saturday, another fatal crash in Osprey temporarily shut down both north and southbound lanes of U.S. 41 between Rubens Drive and Shoreland Drive, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was a single-vehicle crash. FHP said the vehicle veered into the grass median and collided with the guardrail, overturning and then getting engulfed in flames.
