NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are six games in the NHL on Sunday.

Forwards

Auston Matthews (Toronto), C - $9,800 (FanDuel), $9,000 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)

Matthews has a five-game goal-scoring streak after he scored Saturday and added an assist in a shootout loss to Minnesota. Matthews is up to 14 goals and 24 points in 22 games with nine points including seven goals during the five-game streak. He is back to being in contention for the Rocket Richard Trophy, an award he won last season with 41 goals. There are other top centers to take like Edmonton’s duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl but Matthews is less expensive.

Nikolaj Ehlers (Winnipeg), W - $6,900 (FanDuel), $6,400 (Draft Kings), $22 (Yahoo)

The Jets have not been finding the back of the net of late but all that changed on Friday in an 8-4 win over New Jersey. Ehlers scored twice to snap a five-game pointless streak and the Jets are home to the Maple Leafs who should have backup goalie Joseph Woll in net after playing Saturday night in Minnesota. Ehlers has eight goals and 15 points in 23 games but was hot early in the season and looks to be due for another hot streak at this time.

Andrew Mangiapane (Calgary), W - $6,400 (FanDuel), $5,200 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)

Mangiapane is having a definite Cy Young season with 16 goals and only three assists in 24 games. The talented winger has scored five times with the man-advantage and has been the go-to player for the Flames when they need a goal. He is only two away from tying a career-high in goals set last season in 56 games.

Bargain Bin: Kevin Hayes (Philadelphia), C $4,100 (FanDuel), $3,200 (Draft Kings), $16 (Yahoo), Sean Monahan (Calgary), C $4,000 (FanDuel), $3,800 (Draft Kings), $14 (Yahoo), Adrian Kempe (Los Angeles), W $4,600 (FanDuel) $4,200 (Draft Kings), $15 (Yahoo), Max Domi (Columbus), C/W $4,500 (FanDuel), $2,900 (Draft Kings), $14 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Morgan Rielly (Toronto), $6,300 (FanDuel), $5,400 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo)

Rielly is coming off a three-assist night on Saturday to give him four helpers in the last two games and 18 points in 25 contests. He has three goals this season and has been involved far more offensively of late. Rielly is a bargain in Draft Kings as well as Yahoo.

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay), $7,100 (FanDuel), $7,200 (Draft Kings), $25 (Yahoo)

Hedman has a three-game points streak on the line as the Lightning are home to the Flyers on Sunday, scoring twice and adding three assists. Overall, the perennial Norris Trophy contender has five goals and 23 points in 23 games this season and should be among the leaders in points for a defenseman once the season ends.

Bargain Bin:

Evan Bouchard (Edmonton), $4,600 (FanDuel), $4,900 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo), Vladislav Gavrikov (Columbus), $4,200 (FanDuel), $3,300 (Draft Kings), $15 (Yahoo), Oliver Kylington (Calgary), $4,400 (FanDuel), $4,600 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Elvis Merzlikins (Columbus), $7,700 (FanDuel), $7,700 (Draft Kings), $32 (Yahoo)

Toss out Merzlikins last game as he was ill and taken out after giving up three goals on only nine shots. He is 9-4-0 with a 2.61 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Merzlikins has been great this season. The Blue Jackets face San Jose, who are completing a long road trip Sunday and could be pining for home.

Other plays:

Jacob Markstrom (Calgary), $7,400 (FanDuel), $7,600 (Draft Kings), $39 (Yahoo)
