It’s obvious why bettors prefer the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.
There aren’t many chances to take an undefeated team this late in the season as an underdog. And the Steelers are getting more than a field goal in a huge showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.
The betting breakdown at BetMGM is predictable. The Steelers are getting 79.5% of the bets and 76.9% of the money against the Ravens.
And somehow the line is getting higher as it moves toward the Ravens, even though less than a quarter of the action is on them.
Line moves in Ravens-Steelers
The line had been at 3.5 points, in favor of the Ravens, all week. Then on Thursday it changed at BetMGM to Steelers +4. That happened despite the wide majority of bets coming in on Pittsburgh.
The Steelers are the NFL’s last undefeated team. It took a while for everyone to jump on their bandwagon, but a blowout win over the Cleveland Browns and a victory at the Tennessee Titans has given them plenty of buzz.
It doesn’t seem the Steelers, who were 30-to-1 to win the Super Bowl before the season, are getting the same kind of respect from oddsmakers. The Steelers were a modest 3-point home favorite against the Browns, a 1.5-point underdog against the Titans and now a 4-point underdog against the Ravens.
If you want the Steelers and those points for Sunday’s game of the week, you’re not alone.
Will Ravens or Steelers take control of AFC North?
The Ravens have a different path than the Steelers this season.
Baltimore had a great 2019, had the defending MVP in Lamar Jackson and big expectations to be AFC co-favorites with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens have been good but aren’t blowing anyone away yet. Jackson’s numbers are down as his running attempts have been limited.
The Steelers were underrated coming into the season due to Ben Roethlisberger’s health. He was coming off elbow surgery. Roethlisberger has answered a lot of the questions about him and the depth of the Steelers on offense and defense has been obvious. They’re a good team.
Yet, if you want the Steelers and 4 points this week, it’s available. Based on the volume coming in on the Steelers and the line move toward the Ravens, we know which side the sportsbooks will be rooting for this week.
